![]() Robert L. Shockley, 87, of Terre Haute died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, in his residence. He was born Aug. 6, 1920, in Terre Haute to Harvey L. Shockley and Ethel May Smith Shockley. Robert retired from Wabash Fibre Box after 43 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Frances Evinger Shockley, who died Nov. 21, 2004.Survivors include his brother, Edward Shockley of Terre Haute; sisters, Gail Welch of Carmel, and JoAnn Sedletzeck of West Terre Haute; nieces and nephews, Venita Baumgartner, Paula Leach, Linda Green, Roberta Doyle, William Sedletzeck, Susan Yeazel, Katrina Bendzsa, Hans Collins, Mike Collins, Steve Collins, Robert Shockley and David Shockley. Robert was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a member and past master of Terre Haute Lodge 19 Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, and Knights Templar of the York Rite. He received the Grand Lodge Award of Gold in 1996. He was a member of the Marine Corps during World War II, was a life member of Joseph A. Bray Detachment 471 of the Marine Corps League, and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972.Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Callahan and Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., with the Rev. Scott Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, with military services by the Marine Corps League. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., with Masonic services at 7 p.m. |
