Many Will Remember DeDe Ooley

Daisy Deane “DeDe” Ooley, 90, of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Cobblestone Crossings, where she had resided for 18 months. She was born in Eldorado, Ill., on Feb. 10, 1923, to Robert and Maggie Edith (Cummins) Adams.

DeDe retired from the offices of Weston Paper and Manufacturing Company in 1989. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Temple and the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon B. Ooley, in 1994; a son, V. Keith Ooley in 2002; and a sister, Mary F. Hufnagle, in 2004. Her survivors are four daughters and their spouses, Marcia Page and husband Stephen of Cave Creek, Ariz., Vernalee Mitchell and her husband Robert of Cory, Susan Ooley-Viray and husband John Viray of Terre Haute, and Beth Carpenter and her husband Keith of Cincinnati  There is one stepson, James Ray and his wife Karen of Fort Branch, Ind.; her grandchildren, Jordan Marie Page, Robert and Maranda Mitchell, Michael and Megan Mitchell, Justin and Macrea Mitchell, Spencer Ooley-Viray, John Viray Jr., Joi Viray, Maggie Carpenter, Braxton Carpenter, Vicki Wilson and Jacki Damm.

Memorial services will be on Saturday, June 15, 2013, in United Methodist Temple beginning at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ric May officiating. Private family burial services will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Friends may call on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the start of the services. Donations in her honor may be made to the United Methodist Temple Music Department or Gentiva Vista Care Hospice. The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and CNA’s of Cobblestone Crossings Health Care Center and also Gentiva Vista Care Hospice for the love and care they provided our Mom.
