Max Pastorius Remembered

maxTERRE HAUTE — Max Allen Pastorius, born March 3, 1930, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at Signature Healthcare of Terre Haute surrounded by his loved ones and family. He was born in Fontanet, to Peter Pistorius and Etta Biggs Pastorius.

Max is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Catherine Baker Pastorius; sons, David Allen Pastorius and Danny Neil Pastorius, both of Terre Haute; daughter, Marsha Kay and her husband Robert Drake of Terre Haute; and 10 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Etta; brothers, Elmo, William, and Lester Pastorius; and one infant son; Gary Max Pastorius.

Max retired from Wabash Fibre Box in Terre Haute after 43 years service. He was a member of Burnett Bible Church and the Legion Post 346. He also was in the United States Army from Feb. 14, 1951 to Feb. 14 1953, and he served in the 315 Infantry and 18th Airborne Special Services.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 N. Lafayette Ave. A funeral ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Herb officiating.  Burial with military rites will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
